The photo at the top of this page is the Aztec Sun Stone, also known as the calendar stone. The original calendar stone was made out of stone; the one in the photo is painted on amate bark paper.
You can learn more about the Aztec Sun Stone by watching this short video from Khan Academy. You can learn more about how amate paper is made by watching this short video in English and this one in Spanish. And you can see how paintings like this one are created on amate paper from this video. (added March 19, 2020) |

Review stem-changing verbs by watching these three videos: e to ie verbs, o to ue verbs, and i to e verbs. After watching the videos, you can go to this site and select "games" to play some practice games. It is not necessary to sign in at that site, unless you want to play the multi-player games. To play the multi-player games with other students from our class, please see the instructions that I posted today in Google Classroom! Lastly, if you think you have "got it" and know stem-changing verbs well, try taking the self-quiz. (added March 26, 2020)

R con R (pronounced "erre con erre") is a "trabalenguas" - a tongue-twister in Spanish. Like most tongue-twisters, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it is fun and difficult to say quickly. It is a good way to practice saying the "r" sound in Spanish. Here and here are videos where you can hear how to pronounce it. Click here or on the image to the left to go to my lesson for this trabalenguas. If you want to record yourself trying to say it, you can use vocaroo.com to record your voice! (added March 27, 2020)

A sign with a license plate that says “TNNKS2DR” has been on my board since the first day of school. By February (or perhaps sooner!) you should know enough Spanish to figure it out! Can you solve the puzzle?
If you want to submit your answer to me to see if you are right, email me! (added March 30, 2020) |
